Luna Composition Lab and ChamberQUEER present the second installment of The Nebula Project on November 3 at National Sawdust.

We asked our 2024–25 fellows—Sam Pichardo, Danity Pike, Mia Turakhia, Zoe Verduin, Brannon Warn-Johnston, and Emilie Wolff—what inspired the pieces they have been working on with their mentors throughout this year. Learn where they each found inspiration ahead of the world premieres on June 26 at Carnegie Hall, performed by International Contemporary Ensemble.

The next Luna Lab Festival will be held from June 22-27! The 2024–25 fellows will travel to New York City to participate in six days of workshops, masterclasses, networking events, performances, and more, culminating in a performance of their world premiere compositions by International Contemporary Ensemble.

Luna Composition Lab is thrilled to introduce The Nebula Project, an ongoing collaboration with ChamberQUEER. Read on to learn more about the first performance as part of the project, which will take place on November 4 in NYC.

This year we celebrate five Luna Lab alumni graduating from high school and five Luna Lab alumni graduating from college across six fellowship years.

The next annual Luna Lab Festival will be held from June 17-22, 2024. The 2023–24 fellows will travel to San Francisco to participate in six days of workshops, master classes, networking events, performances, and more, culminating in a performance of their world premiere compositions by Kronos Quartet.

In May 2023 Luna Lab alumni Madeline Clara Cheng (2020-21) and Caleb Palka (2017-18) will travel to Bergen for workshops with young female and nonbinary Norwegian composers, led by mentor Therese Ulvo. In addition, both Maddie and Caleb will have their works premiered on festival concerts.

Luna Lab’s largest commissioning initiative to date, The May Festival’s 25 for 25: A New Time for Choral Music premieres new choral works by Greater Cincinnati choral ensembles in a community showcase March 19, 2023, and at several other local performances throughout the spring.
