Virtual Master Class with Clara Warnaar

Percussionist and composer Clara Warnaar tends towards interdisciplinary projects, actively playing and commissioning new music. In addition to being a member of the Contemporary Ensemble, Clara has appeared as a guest artist with Yarn/Wire, the Bang on a Can Orchestra, and Ensemble Signal, and also has a solo ambient project and is the drummer for the band, Infinity Shred. Clara will gives a master class on percussion techniques and perform excerpts of works by our 2024–25 fellows.

Virtual Master Class with Marion Newman

Marion Newman is one of Canada’s most accomplished singers, with operatic roles like Carmen, Rosina, and Shanawdithit, and more. She is also a voice faculty member at the University of Victoria and host of CBC’s Saturday Afternoon at the Opera. Marion will lead a masterclass on vocal techniques, sharing insights from her experience and performing short excerpts by our 2024–25 fellows.

Virtual Master Class with Aviva Jaye

As part of our ongoing partnership with ChamberQUEER, Brooklyn-based artist and multi-instrumentalist performer Aviva Jaye joins us for a conversation and workshop on her career as a composer and collaborator. Aviva will speak about her background, career in the arts, and perform short excerpts written by our 2023–24 fellows for folk/lever harp and voice. She will also offer insights for young composers in an engaging Q&A.
