New Moons I: Music From Luna Composition Lab 2023 features recordings of five world premiere compositions by the 2022–23 fellows—Hannah Chen, Lucy Chen, Lili M. Namazi, Elaina Stuppler, and Isabelle Tseng—performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble.
The album features chamber works that draw upon a variety of inspirations. Experience Lucy Chen’s coming of age piece, Hannah Chen and Lili Namazi’s aleatoric and sonic explorations, and Isabelle Tseng and Elaina Rae Stuppler’s pieces inspired by the climates of their hometowns—each from opposite coasts of the United States.
We are delighted to have worked with the International Contemporary Ensemble as the 2022–23 Ensemble in Residence. Members of the International Contemporary Ensemble worked with fellows throughout the year to workshop their new pieces and premiere them on a program as part of American Composers Orchestra’s SoniC festival in June 2023.
