Sophia Kunxu Dou (age 14) is a composer, pianist, violinist, and singer. Sophia was born in Beijing, China and currently lives in New York City. She is a composition major at Juilliard Pre-College, where she studies with Danny Felsenfeld. Sophia also enjoys ballet, contemporary dance, ice skating, cross country running, visual arts, and literature. She is often inspired by poetry and experiments with writing poems to describe her music. She first started composing at age 8 and started working with her first teacher at age 13, who inspired her to incorporate contemporary elements and open up her imagination for new sounds.
