Nina Shekhar explores the intersection of identity, vulnerability, love, and laughter to create bold and intensely personal works. Described as “tart and compelling” (New York Times), “vivid” (Washington Post) and “surprises and delights aplenty” (LA Times), her music has been performed by the New York Philharmonic, LA Phil, Minnesota Orchestra, Albany Symphony, Eighth Blackbird, International Contemporary Ensemble, New World Symphony, JACK Quartet, and The Crossing. Her work has been featured by Carnegie Hall, Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Library of Congress. She is currently Composer-in Residence of Young Concert Artists, on faculty at Brightwork newmusic’s High School Composers Initiative, and previously served as a Composer Teaching Artist for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.
