Faith Wesley (age 18) is a composer and clarinetist from Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is a senior at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, where she studies under Dr. Thomas Dempster. A transgender student, she has had works performed in Arkansas, Indiana, and Tennessee. Her compositions center on themes of transgender identity and social justice. This past summer, she attended the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, where she studied under Dr. Jorge Variego and Dr. Ingrid Stötzel. Faith is greatly inspired by the works of George Crumb and Pauline Oliveros. As she pursues further studies in composition, she hopes to continue experimenting and pushing boundaries to create compelling pieces.
