Chloe Kirk

Chloe Kirk
Chloe Kirk (age 17) is a composer and multi-instrumentalist from Encino, California. In addition to Luna Lab, she is entering her second year of the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program. She began studying piano at age three and cello at age seven, fostering a passion for performance and composition. Her works have been performed by professional groups, blending classical traditions with contemporary influences. As a first chair cellist with her school orchestra and an active participant in national music programs, she continues to explore a variety of avenues as an artist. Chloe’s music explores storytelling and identity, and strives to make works that can translate across communities.

Christabelle Kirkham

Christabelle Kirkham
Christabelle Kirkham (age 15) is a composer and multi-instrumentalist raised in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Her compositional journey started through Luna Lab’s Adventures in Sound program, where she fell in love with writing music. Beyond that, Christabelle has studied composition through summer programs at Brevard Music Center and the Tanglewood Institute. Most recently, her works have been played by the Arneis Quartet, the International Contemporary Ensemble, the Curiosity Cabinet, and at the Adirondack Lakes Theater Festival. As director of the Bottomless Pit Band, she composes and performs original music for her high school’s Shakespeare troupe, experimenting with improvisation and diverse musical styles.

Anchi Wang-Hall

Anchi Wang-Hall
Anchi Wang-Hall (age 17) is a composer, pianist, vocalist, and theorist from Columbus, Ohio. They have been recognized by MTNA and have participated in programs including Interlochen Arts Camp and Jacobs Composition Academy. Their music is inspired by anything from plants, to pigment hues, to narrative design, or even Sonata Theory. Anchi is currently excited by chance-based techniques, graphic/gestural scores, and innovative ways of using form as a rhetorical device. They write music based on how they experience the world, in hopes that it will resonate with others. Anchi studies composition with Dr. David Nelson Tomasacci and piano with Ms. Tatiana Kats.

Andromeda Wen

Andromeda Wen
Andromeda Wen (age 18) is a San Francisco-based composer and multireedist whose music explores the intersection of art and activism, responding to social and ecological crises through sound. Her works have been performed across the USA, Italy, and Austria by ensembles including Friction Quartet, Hub New Music, International Contemporary Ensemble, PHACE, SOLI Chamber Ensemble, and Telegraph Quartet. She has studied at Tanglewood, Interlochen, the Walden School, and SFCM pre-college. A recent finalist at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington, she is also a national winner in multiple composition competitions, including the Pacific Musical Society and National Federation of Music Clubs.

Faith Wesley

Faith Wesley
Faith Wesley (age 18) is a composer and clarinetist from Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is a senior at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, where she studies under Dr. Thomas Dempster. A transgender student, she has had works performed in Arkansas, Indiana, and Tennessee. Her compositions center on themes of transgender identity and social justice. This past summer, she attended the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, where she studied under Dr. Jorge Variego and Dr. Ingrid Stötzel. Faith is greatly inspired by the works of George Crumb and Pauline Oliveros. As she pursues further studies in composition, she hopes to continue experimenting and pushing boundaries to create compelling pieces.

Madeline Yang

Madeline Yang
Madeline Yang (age 17) is a composer and pianist from the Los Angeles area who is interested in all genres and traditions of music, as well as interdisciplinary works. She is grateful to have attended the Boston Conservatory’s Composition Intensive and Berklee’s Songwriting Sessions, and have works premiered by the Musical Offering, Arneis Quartet, and Boston Conservatory faculty, among others. In addition to Luna Lab, she is also a current fellow with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra Composer Fellowship Program and looks forward to having works performed by the orchestra and affiliate chamber ensembles. She studies piano with Dr. Hedy Lee and composition with Mr. Isaac Loew.

Karis Huang

Karis Huang
Karis Huang (age 14) is a composer, violinist, and pianist from Seattle, Washington. She is a freshman at Mercer Island High School. Karis plays in the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra and her favorite memories include performing for Pacific Northwest Ballet and playing side-by-side with the Seattle Symphony. She recently attended the Wildflower Composers Festival where her piece was performed by the Bergamot Quartet. Karis currently studies violin with Patrick Galvin, at the Coleman Violin Studio and composition with Daixuan Ai. Her favorite activities include reading and dancing on her high school’s drill team.

Angela Jin

Angela Jin
Angela Jin (age 17) is a composer and flutist from Andover, Massachusetts, and a junior at Phillips Academy. She studies composition with Yiming Wu and flute with Nina Barwell and Lisa Hennesy. She has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center and Boston Symphony Hall, and her work was recognized by Tribeca New Music. Drawing inspiration from her cultural background and philosophy, Angela seeks to create music that spreads kindness and fosters reflection. As a flutist, she has performed with the Massachusetts All-State Orchestra, and serves as principal flute of the NEC Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Andover Symphony Orchestra.

Ana Leon Kovatch

Ana Leon Kovatch
Ana Leon Kovatch (age 17) is a composer and guitarist from Hershey, Pennsylvania who is inspired by fusing contrasting genres. She studies with Dr. Justin Morell and attended Interlochen Arts Camp, the Juilliard Composition Intensive, and the Penn State Youth Composition Institute. Her piece Tangents for Strings received the PMEA All-State Composition Award and featured at CMCB Young Composers Festival. The Hershey HS Concert Orchestra also performed her work Baile Eterno at the PMEA All-State Conference. Ana teaches children’s guitar classes under Eric Dieter at QBGS and interns for Brian Buterbaugh with the Hersey HS Orchestra. When not composing, she enjoys playing guitar, from jazz to progressive metal.

Sophia Kunxu Dou

Sophia Kunxu Dou
Sophia Kunxu Dou (17) is a composer based in New York City, who studies composition under Valerie Coleman at The Juilliard School. She was formerly a Juilliard Pre-College student of Daniel Felsenfeld. She is a winner of the 2023 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards, The American Prize in Composition–Orchestra 2024, and The 2025 First Commission Awards, among others. She has been a New York Youth Symphony member since 2022 and participated in the Young Artists Composition Program of BUTI, Yellow Barn and Dolphins Quartet. Sophia’s works have been performed at National Sawdust, Composers Now Festival, 14th Busan Maru International Music Festival, Sounds of US Festival, and more.

Julia Lu (age 17) is a composer from Ellicott City, Maryland who believes music has the power to bring people together. With a love for exploring unique sounds and techniques, she creates works that evoke deep emotion. Her recent compositions push the boundaries of traditional music, blending classical and contemporary elements. Her music often draws inspiration from nature and everyday life. For Julia, music is a way to connect, inspire, and move audiences.

Amelie Wright

Amelie Wright
Amelie Wright (age 17) is a composer, violinist, and singer from Portland, Oregon. She grew up surrounded by music and consequently fell in love with it. Amelie loves to explore various possible textures, extended techniques, and the intersections between music and culture. Amelie has participated in various composition opportunities around the United States, including the Walden School of Music, the Portland Young Jazz Composers mentorship, the Young Composers Program, and the Portland Art Museum Film Scorers Project. Her works have been awarded an OMEA 2024 State Composition Honorable Mention and the ASCAP 2025 Irving Berlin Award.
