Luna Composition Lab and ChamberQUEER introduce the first volume of works from The Nebula Project on November 4. This ongoing partnership, made possible by the New York Community Trust, aims to foster emerging composers of diverse identities from Luna Composition Lab and cultivate their authentic voices through mentorship and the commissioning of new work. For each presentation as part of The Nebula Project, a minimum of two Luna Lab alums will be commissioned to create new work for a stellar ensemble of ChamberQUEER performers.
At this inaugural event, titled Little Gems after the Sagittarian gas giant NGC 6818, a ChamberQUEER-curated chamber ensemble of performers will premiere new works by Luna Lab alumni Lili Namazi (22–23), Sage Shurman (19–20), and a new version of an original work by Devon Lee (21–22) The program will be rounded out by a selection of notable compositions by Luna Lab alumni Caleb Palka (17–18), Jane Meenaghan (18–19), Alicia Erlandson (19–20), and Lucy Chen (22–23).
Join us for an open reception following the performance where attendees can mingle with composers, curators and musicians to learn more about their artistry and this partnership.
The event will also be livestreamed for free on the Luna Lab and ChamberQUEER websites.
