Sumiko Ito

After working as a national government employee of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labor of the Japanese government and then an investment banker at a large Japanese company and a US company in Wall Street, Sumiko Ito 伊藤澄子 founded a business consulting company, Arcadia Capital, Inc. in New York. Sumiko provided business strategies for CEOs of international companies which try to enter new business fields or new markets. She has served on the board of the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art (Tokyo) and the Kronos Performing Arts Association (San Francisco). An opera enthusiast, she is a founder of Lets Explore Pleasure of Opera! with the Nippon Club in New York where she regularly gives talks and lectures. In 2016, she translated from German to Japanese and published Jonas Kaufmann: Tenor. Sumiko practices the way of tea under the guidance of Soujitsu Kobori, the 13th Grand Master of Ensyu Sado. She graduated from the University of Tokyo and Oxford University. She lives in downtown New York with her husband, Donald Allison.
